Virat Kohli: पूर्व भारतीय क्रिकेटर Aakash Chopra ने ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ टीम और आगामी 2027 ODI World Cup पर अपने विचार साझा किए हैं। उनका मानना है कि अगर दोनों स्टार खिलाड़ी, Virat Kohli और Rohit Sharma, आगामी मैचों में लगातार अच्छा प्रदर्शन करते हैं, तो 2027 ODI World Cup तक खेल सकते हैं। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि भारतीय टीम का चयन पक्षपात और कोटा प्रणाली के बजाय योग्यता के आधार पर होता है।
ये बात नोट करने वाली है कि Virat Kohli और Rohit दोनों को ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ आगामी ODI टीम में शामिल किया गया है, लेकिन जिस बदलाव ने सभी को चौंका दिया है, वह यह है कि रोहित शर्मा अब भारतीय टीम के कप्तान नहीं हैं। शुभमन गिल को वनडे में भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम का नया कप्तान नियुक्त किया गया है।

Aakash Chopra ने कहा ,
“The preparations are on for the second test, but the focus is more on the big news currently. The big news is that Rohit Sharma is not there as a captain, and Virat Kohli is there, but nobody knows what the road ahead will be. I read an article where it was written that their selection will be merit-based.”
उन्होंने आगे कहा
“I am wondering when their selection was not merit-based. Meritocracy only works. There is no favoritism or quota system here. India is doing well because whoever is good plays here. If you are good, you will play for India, and if you do well consistently, you will remain in the team.”

पूर्व क्रिकेटर ने यह भी बताया कि कोई भी खिलाड़ी कितना भी बड़ा क्यों न हो, अंत में उसका प्रदर्शन ही मायने रखता है और यही उसे लंबे समय तक खेलने में मदद करता है। कुछ रिपोर्टों में साफ़ कहा गया है कि अगर सीनियर खिलाड़ी अच्छा प्रदर्शन नहीं करेंगे तो वे भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम में नहीं खेल पाएँगे और ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ आगामी वनडे सीरीज़ उनकी आखिरी सीरीज़ साबित हो सकती है।
