“People around us have a big habit of making fake predictions. If it comes true, good; if not, they just brush it off. If it works, they call it an arrow; if not, they say it was just a guess. And still they continue to act like some kind of wise baba.”

इसके अलावा, नवजोत सिंह सिद्धू ने आमिर को ‘नकली बाबा’ कहा, और बताया कि आमिर ने भविष्यवाणी की थी कि भारत सेमीफाइनल के लिए भी क्वालीफाई नहीं कर पाएगा।
उन्होंने कहा,
“Honestly, I think such people are just dhongi babas (fake babas). First they said India wouldn’t even qualify, wouldn’t reach the semifinals. They claimed the West Indies and South Africa would go ahead. But the moment Sanju Samson made his comeback, both those teams were sent packing. And today they said England would win the semifinal, and England also got knocked out.”
उन्होंने आगे कहा,
“So my point is, predictions don’t decide these things. Matches are decided on the battlefield. You don’t earn a throne by begging for it. Empty vessels make the most noise. That’s the whole point.”
आमिर यहीं नहीं रुके; सेमीफ़ाइनल में इंग्लैंड के साथ भारत के मैच से पहले, उन्होंने भविष्यवाणी की थी कि इंग्लैंड मैच जीतेगा। लेकिन भारत की ज़बरदस्त जीत के बाद, आमिर ने अपनी भविष्यवाणी का बचाव करते हुए कहा कि अगर ब्रूक ने 15 रन पर संजू सैमसन का कैच नहीं छोड़ा होता तो इंग्लैंड जीत सकता था। इसके बाद संजू ने 42 गेंदों पर 89 रन बनाए, और भारत ने 20 ओवर में 253/7 का स्कोर बनाया। टारगेट का पीछा करते हुए, इंग्लैंड ने 20 ओवर में 246/7 का स्कोर बनाया।
मोहम्मद आमिर ने भारत के प्रदर्शन के बारे में बात करते हुए कहा,
“I talk about cricket. India played very good and complete cricket in this match after the entire tournament. We have to give credit where it is due. I did make a good prediction, but dropping a catch is not in my hands. If you drop the catch of an in-form batter, this is what happens.”
“The only difference between the two teams was Bumrah. If Harry Brook had taken the catch of Samson, this target would have been chased down by England with an over to spare.”
